We continue to create wildlife habitat with support from Penwith Landscape Partnership - 2019

Grove of trees is a tree lined meadow that had been drained by the previous farmer but was still too wet for his cows and too 'scruffy' to leave alone, so it was killed off with glyphosphate for several years. We are in the process of restoring it to a species rich wet meadow, with several scrapes. Our small cows with their light foot print will be able to graze here and help us in the process.

Our first series of small scrapes which filled with water very quickly.

Here it is in the Summer with some areas drying and some holding water - exactly as hoped. Lots of water forget-me-knot.

And yellow rattle and a rampant marsh thistle, alongside a growing number of wet meadow species

This is a larger scrape at the bottom of the field which filled as we were scraping - this was even before I put sand bags in the bolt to reduce the flow of water out of the meadow.

This is soon after its finished

We have sown Cornish wild flower seed in three acres by tining and harrowing poor fields with low fertility with the help of Penwith Landscape Partnership - THANK YOU!
